Pathways to federal careers

On Thursday, Jan. 24, students will be able to review and apply to paid internships and permanent jobs.

Mary Doke, deputy forest supervisor of the Huron-Manistee National Forest, will present an overview of the U.S. job opportunities and help students set up profiles on usajobs.gov.

This event, sponsored by the College of Arts and Sciences, will take place at 4:30 p.m. in
BUS 111.

Digital media designing demo game

According to University Advancement and Marketing, students in digital media are designing a demo game for a Spain-based software media company.

The company will release a new game engine this year.

Ferris diversity recognized

Ferris has received national recognition from INSIGHT Into Diversity magazine.

According to University Advancement and Marketing, Ferris received a 2012 INSIGHT Into Diversity Higher Education Excellence in Diversity Award from the magazine.

Spring enrollment up

Ferris school officials announced a systemwide student enrollment of 13,813 students, which represents an increase of 108 students from the previous spring term.

Colleges that have seen increases in enrollment numbers include Engineering Technology, Education and Human Services, Pharmacy and Business.

Public relations student recognized

Elizabeth Michalski, Ferris senior studying public relations, was named a finalist in the PRWeek Student of the Year national competition.

On Jan. 17, Michalski flew to New York City to test her knowledge in a contest that awards the winner $5,000 and a paid internship at one of the world’s largest PR firms, according to University Advancement and Marketing.

Michalski was one of the five finalists chosen out of 104 applicants.

The Office of Housing and Residence Life introduces a new campaign after the most recent change in Ferris’ on-campus residency requirement.
