Accomplishments:

For the second time this season, Anna Rudd has been awarded the GLIAC Runner of the Week.

Rudd, along with the Ferris track and field team, traveled to Grand Valley for the 2013 Indoor GLIAC Championships, as she finished with a career best in the 5,000 meter and 3,000 meter distance events.

Rudd won the conference championship in the 5,000 meter run with a time of 16:42.95, which was nearly 25 seconds faster than second-place finisher Courtney Brewis from Grand Valley State.

That time also set a new league record, which was originally set in 2010, and met a national provisional qualification time in the process.

Rudd’s run also takes over the new Ferris State 5,000 meter record, as she bested former Ferris distance runner Tina Muir’s time of 16:52.91 recorded in 2010.

This event marks the third time this season that Rudd has met a national provisional qualification time, as she also reached the time in the mile run and the 3,000 meter run.

She captured the title in the 3,000 meter run with a time of 9:37.06.

Rudd earned honors, as she was named the GLIAC Women’s Track Athlete of the Year and was nominated for Regional Track Athlete of the Year.

Rudd has claimed six first-place performances this season, as she and other runners prepare for the NCAA Division II Championships March 8-9 in Birmingham, Ala.
