Big Rapids’ CROP Hunger Walk accepting walkers

The annual Big Rapids’ CROP Hunger Walk is currently registering walkers. The event will take place on Sunday, Oct. 6.

The 1:30 p.m. walk begins in the IRC Connector and will continue through downtown Big Rapids. Refreshments will be provided and t-shirts will be given to participants who meet their fundraising goal.

Church World Service and a local hunger agency Project Starburst sponsor CROP Hunger Walk each year to raise funds for hunger programs in local areas and around the world.

Disc golf race to be held at Northend Riverside Park

The 7th Annual Big Rapids Ace Race will be held on this Sunday. This disc golf race kicks off at noon at the disc golf course at Northend Riverside Park.

For an entry fee of $25 contestants have a chance to win a disc gold bag filled with $300 worth of disc gold equipment. Included with the entry fee, players will receive a player’s pack and two Titanium discs to use for the day.

ArtPrize 2013 set to begin

The fifth year of ArtPrize in Grand Rapids begins onWednesday and runs through Sunday, Oct. 6.

As the world’s largest art prize, Ferris State University and Kendall College of Art and Design are preparing for the event, which attracts hundreds of thousands, people each year. KCAD is one of 169 venues hosting 1,524 entries in the contest,

Ferris is sponsoring a family drawing lesson beginning at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 27 at Rosa Parks Circle in Grand Rapids. The free drawing lesson is open to anyone with is interested in creating art. More information is available at ferris.edu.
