Women’s tennis received a strong contribution from sophomore, Janie Sell, and freshman, Sydney Berens, in the Bulldogs 5-3 loss to Olivet Nazarene.
Sell and Berens were the only two players on the team to come out victorious in singles competition on Saturday, Feb. 15. The two young Bulldogs’ performances were the highlights of a match that was controlled by ONU throughout most of the meeting at Ferris’ Racquet and Fitness Center.
Berens won her singles match with a 6-0, 6-0 shutdown of ONU’s Clara Ruegsegger, and Sell took her match with a 7-6, 7-6 mark over Seraphine Buchmann.
The two then paired up to notch Ferris’ only doubles win of the day as they teamed up with a solid match against the Tigers’ Aziza Butoyi and Tifanny Aguirre. The duo took the match 8-6 as the two fed of their strong singles performances.
The Bulldogs moved to 8-10 overall following the loss to the Tigers and currently sit in the seventh spot in the GLIAC.
