Softball Splits
The Ferris State softball team went 2-2 last weekend in a pair of doubleheaders in Big Rapids
The Dawgs were shut out by the Tiffin University Dragons in both games of their doubleheader on Saturday. Ferris State fell to the Dragons by scores of 4-0 and 7-0. The Bulldogs only had three total hits in both games combined. Sophomore shortstop Sarah Johnson had a hit in both games, and freshman left-fielder Sam Bates had a hit in the second game.
Sunday was a different story for the Bulldogs as they rallied back to beat Ohio Dominican in both games of their doubleheader. In the two games, the Bulldogs won 7-6 and 5-4, with both victories coming in extra innings.
In the first game, the Dawgs posted 16 total hits on their way to the 7-6 victory. Sophomore pitcher Megan Hiler pitched the bulk of the game for the Bulldogs, allowing four runs on three hits and a walk.
In the second game, the Dawgs came back to win late to push past Ohio Dominican. Sophomore pitcher Stacy Thompson was awarded the win for the Dawgs after pitching 7.1 innings, allowing four runs on five hits. Senior pitcher Cara DeLange was given the save for the Bulldogs by getting the last two outs of the game to give the Bulldogs a 5-4 win.
Ferris State has another double header against Wayne State University today in Big Rapids. The games will be played at 3:00 and 5:00 p.m.
