The Ferris State men’s tennis team started the season off strong last weekend as the Bulldogs had a sweep of both Davenport University and Aquinas College.
The Bulldogs will be taking on Salem International University, St. Joseph (Ind.) College and Lewis University for a three-match home stand this upcoming weekend.
Ferris freshman Till Von Winning, who is from Germany, is playing third in the lineup at the moment and is still getting used to playing this much tennis at once.
“My mindset is always the same, I want to go out and play my best tennis, no matter who is on the other side of the net. I actually like playing against better players or teams, because it is even more challenging,” Von Winning said. “This is the first time I’ve played this much tennis in my life and I think I can still improve a lot with the help of my team and coaches.”
While the team is looking to build upon the good start to the season, the depth of the team is still the most crucial part of having a long run this season. Each player is looking to contribute in any way possible each and every match. Junior Conner Hunt is looking to continue his fight for the sixth spot in the lineup.
“It’s tough, you have to come into practice mentally prepared to fight for it everyday,” Hunt said.
The Bulldogs will play Salem International University on Friday, Feb. 19 at 1 p.m., St. Joseph (Ind.) College Saturday, Feb. 20 at 11 a.m. and Lewis University Sunday, Feb. 21 at 10 a.m. Home matches are located at the Ferris State Racquet and Fitness Center.
