A test as old as time

Started with 32, ends with one

For the past 54 years there has been one thing all football lovers look forward to.

Only two teams make it, but millions of fans watch it every year and that event is the Super Bowl. This year the two teams facing off are the San Francisco 49ers and the Kansas City Chiefs. The game is on Feb. 2 at 6:30 p.m. and will be played at Hard Rock Stadium.

These two teams have had very similar stats throughout this year. The 49ers went 13-3 and the Chiefs went 12-4 in the regular season. They played one time this season and the 49ers came out on top, winning 27-17.

You can believe that the Chiefs are going to be head hunting during this game.

If the 49ers win, they will tie the New England Patriots and the Pittsburgh Steelers for having the most Super Bowl wins in NFL history with six.

However, if the Chiefs win, they will have ended the second longest Lombardi Trophy drought, only behind the New York Jets, who hold the longest with 51 years.

If you are not a fan of football or a fan of the two teams playing in this year’s game do not worry. For the past 54 years fans have remained excited to see the halftime show, the new commercials, and all that happens at the Super Bowl parties every year on the day of the big game.

Because the game is an all day event for some, food is crucial. What snacks people serve can make or break the Super Bowl party.

“Lately, my friends and I have been getting Buffalo Wild Wings for the game,” elementary education major Megan Bugni said.

Football fan or not, tune in Sunday, Feb. 2, to see everything that will make Super Bowl LIV a possible classic to remember.
