On Wednesday, Oct. 29, Blase Gapinski, editor-in-chief of the Ferris State Torch passed away after an intense night of dancing at Star Shooters in Big Rapids, MI.
Gapinski left the world doing what he loved most: absolutely obliterating the dance floor at Star Shooters. He was best known for his ability to bust a move, no matter who was watching. Witnesses report he was getting so jiggy that his powerful moves caused him to spontaneously combust, triggering the smoke alarms and eventually cutting the power.
Despite multiple pleas from friends to take a water break, Gapinski continued to reply, “The beat won’t wait,” and it certainly didn’t.
He is survived by his friends and family, along with one of his New Balance sneakers, which will be bronzed in his honor.
A memorial rave will be held this weekend at Star Shooters, with $3 Death Stars being the deal of the night, as that was his drink of choice. Glowsticks are encouraged and hydration is mandatory.
