Bulldog junior pitcher Dana Bowler was selected as this issue’s “Athlete of the Week” following outstanding performances against Hillsdale College this past weekend. In Friday’s game, Bowler earned the win in the circle after striking out seven batters as she helped the Bulldogs post a 9-1 victory over visiting Hillsdale. On Saturday, Bowler recorded a no-hitter as FSU defeated the Chargers by a 4-0 count. She struck out nine batters and did not give up any walks.
This season Bowler has appeared in 19 games for the Bulldogs. She currently holds a 7-8 record on the mound and has pitched a team-leading 113.1 innings. She’s tallied 103 strikeouts while allowing 103 hits. Bowler holds opponents to a .239 batting average.
FSU currently owns a 16-18 overall mark and is 7-9 in GLIAC play. The Bulldogs will travel to Lake Superior State University April 10 for a conference doubleheader beginning at 3 p.m.
