Women’s volleyball starts new win streak
Following an eight-match winning streak, the Bulldogs lost a close battle at Ashland in a 3-2 decision.
The women came back the next day and swept Lake Erie 3-0.
They then won back-to-back contests at home against Findlay (3-0) and Wayne State (3-2), respectively, to bring their winning streak to three.
The next test will be in Aurora, Illinois, where the Bulldogs will take on teams from the Great Lakes Valley Conference in the GLIAC/GLVC crossover.
Last second touchdown bruises playoff chances
The football team was coming off a big victory at home vs. Grand Valley when they entered Hillsdale’s “Muddy Waters Stadium.”
Unfortunately for the Bulldogs, quarterback Sam Landry and the Hillsdale Chargers had finally begun to mesh just in time for their matchup with Ferris.
The game was tied at 38-38 when Hillsdale got the ball back with 1:37 on the clock.
Landry drove the ball down the field and hit wide open receiver Joe Srebernak on a 14-yard touchdown to take the lead with 29 seconds to play, and it proved to be the final, 45-38.
Women’s tennis backs into GLIAC tournament
The Ferris State women’s tennis team has found themselves in a three-match losing skid as they prepare for the GLIAC Tournament in Midland.
The women started with a respectable 6-4 mark in September, but have labored to post a 1-3-2 record in October.
The losing streak was capitalized by an 8-1 drubbing at the hands of Grand Valley State University in Big Rapids. The lone win came when Ferris’ Jessica Wilcox beat Grand Valley’s Morgan Patterson by default.
Their last victorious result came Oct. 11 at Ohio Dominican when they broke even and defeated the Panthers 5-4.
The GLIAC Tournament is a three day long event between Oct. 25 and 27 at Northwood.
