Fallen Officer Memorial 5K

The Fallen Officer Memorial 5K Run/Walk will take place at 1 p.m. on April 13 at Hemlock Park.

The 5K race will honor those who lost their lives in the line of duty. The proceeds of the race will go to the Jessica Nagle-Wilson Scholarship fund, which is awarded annually to a Ferris State University Criminal Justice student.

Sports Speaker Series hosts Broadcasting HOF inductee

The “father of sports aerial broadcasting” Mickey Wittman will share his story at 7 p.m. on April 14 in BUS 111 as part of the Spring 2014 Sports Speakers Series.

During his 40-year career, Wittman managed blimp television coverage of more than 2,500 sporting live events, including 20 World Series, 24 Super Bowls, five Olympics, more than 200 PGA events, 22 years of Monday Night Football, 26 All-Star games, 28 Indianapolis 500s, 18 years of horse racing’s Triple Crowns, 13 U.S. Open tennis tournaments, 20 heavyweight boxing championships, 200 college football games, 12 NCAA Final Four basketball tournaments and 240 NASCAR races—to name a few.

Easter Egg Hunt at Top Taggart Field

Ferris State University’s annual Easter Egg Hunt will take place at 5 p.m. on April 15 at Top Taggart Field.

About 6,000 eggs containing candy, gift certificates and other goodies will be scattered across the field.

Ferris students can sign up through their MyFSU account under intramural leagues. The cost is $5 for Ferris students.

The children’s egg hunt will begin at 6 p.m. Parents can sign up at the Student Recreation Center or at the registration table before the event. The cost for children is $3.

International Festival of Cultures

The International Festival of Cultures will be held from 1-5 p.m. on April 13 in the IRC Connector.

The event will have food from around the world. Also at the event are international exhibits, global performances and cultural activities for children.
