Softball eliminated from playoff contention
A league office decision snubbed Ferris State’s make-up games that were scheduled for April 27 and 28 vs. Ashland and Grand Valley State, respectively.
Ferris State was sitting in 11th place in the GLIAC at the time of the decision, which effectively ended their season. Even if Ferris finished with four wins, it would not have been enough to boost them into the playoffs.
Seniors Alex Wittman and Amy Dunleavy played their final games for Ferris on April 26 at Hillsdale College in an 8-3 loss. Wittman finished with two home runs and 10 RBIs in her senior campaign.
Dunleavy hit for a batting average of .313 and finished second on the team in home runs with four. Dunleavy also went 4-8 on the mound as a starting pitcher and finished with a 4.64 earned run average.
