Jack-o'-Lantern - Ghost editor

Long-time opinions editor Jackie Moglia passed away suddenly on Oct. 25 after an attempt to pet a bear while visiting her home in northern Michigan led to a vicious mauling.

Before her death, family and friends heard Moglia ask, “If not friend, why friend-shaped?” before walking towards the allegedly already agitated bear. It is unclear at the time what type of bear it was, as witness Dillion Rider described the attack as “a comedic explosion of fur.”

It is to be noted that no charges are being pressed against the bear, as Moglia’s Instagram caption from earlier in the year suggested that she was aware of bear-related dangers, saying that if she got attacked by a bear, “just know it was my fault.”
